Bhubaneswar, June 10: The Odisha government has approved 755 new posts across government medical colleges and medical education institutions in the state to strengthen teaching capacity and improve patient care services.
The sanctioned positions include Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Tutors, Senior Residents, Junior Residents, Casualty Medical Officers, and Blood Bank Officers. The move is aimed at addressing manpower requirements arising from the recent expansion of medical education infrastructure.
The decision follows the addition of 250 MBBS seats in three newly established medical colleges and an increase of 68 postgraduate seats, necessitating additional faculty and clinical support staff.
Officials said the recruitment will significantly enhance the availability of doctors, specialists, and teaching faculty, thereby improving both medical education standards and healthcare delivery in government institutions.
Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling said the government remains committed to strengthening the state’s healthcare system under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. He added that the initiative will help improve the quality of medical education and expand access to better healthcare services across the state.
