Ganjam, Sept. 24 (UDN): Vehicular movement on the Daringbadi Ghat route was disrupted on Thursday after a 14-wheeler truck became stuck on a damaged stretch of road following heavy rainfall in Odisha.
The truck, carrying paper from Bhubaneswar to Raipur, reportedly got trapped when its wheels sank into a section of the road that had given way. The incident occurred near the fourth bend of Daringbadi Ghat under the Sorada police station limits.
Truck Blocks Ghat Road
The heavy vehicle was left stranded in a slanted position on the ghat road, making it difficult for other large vehicles to pass through the affected stretch.
As the truck blocked the road, movement of heavy vehicles came to a halt from both directions. Several vehicles were reportedly stranded on either side of the ghat, causing significant traffic disruption.
The route is an important road link towards Kandhamal, and the blockage has affected vehicles travelling through the area amid continuing rain.
Efforts Underway to Clear Route
Following information about the incident, the local administration reached the spot and initiated efforts to remove the stranded truck and restore traffic movement.
However, the vehicle had not been removed at the time of reporting and traffic remained affected on both sides of the ghat.
Heavy Rain Damages Road
The incident highlights the impact of incessant rainfall on road connectivity in the hilly areas of southern Odisha. The damaged section of the ghat road has made movement particularly difficult for heavy vehicles.
Authorities are working to clear the obstruction and reopen the route for normal traffic.
