July 6: A large-scale search operation is underway in Bhubaneswar after a youth was swept away in a drain near Vani Vihar on Sunday. The incident has triggered an extensive rescue effort that has now continued for over 12 hours.
According to officials, the youth was caught in fast-moving drain water and was carried away due to strong flow conditions in the area. Immediately after the incident was reported, rescue teams were deployed to the spot and search operations were launched without delay.
Teams from emergency services, along with local authorities, are actively scanning the drain and nearby downstream stretches. Despite sustained efforts, the missing youth has not yet been traced.
Authorities have intensified the operation by widening the search area and coordinating multiple teams to improve chances of locating the individual. Officials stated that efforts will continue until the youth is found.
Meanwhile, citizens have been urged to exercise caution during heavy rainfall and avoid venturing near open drains or waterlogged areas, as water flow can become unpredictable and dangerous.
