Belaguntha, June 24 {UDN}:Setting an inspiring example, Mithun Naik, a teacher at Vivekananda Shishu Shiksha Pratisthan in Gangapur under Belaguntha Block of Ganjam district, celebrated his birthday by donating blood during the auspicious Raja festival, continuing a tradition he has followed for several years.
Instead of cutting a cake and hosting a feast, Mithun chose to mark his special day in a meaningful way by helping a person in need. A 43-year-old resident of Lunipada village, Manas Nayak, who is suffering from anemia, was undergoing treatment at Bhanjanagar Hospital and urgently required A+ blood.
Manas's son, Ashutosh Nayak, was a former student of Mithun and knew that his teacher was a regular blood donor. After learning about the blood requirement, Ashutosh informed his family, who then contacted Mithun for assistance. Seeing it as a valuable opportunity to save a life, Mithun immediately came forward and donated blood.
Apart from being a dedicated teacher, Mithun serves as the district secretary of a Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe community organization. He is also known as a talented painter, stage presenter, amateur actor, and nature lover.
Mithun's noble gesture has been widely appreciated by local residents, who praised his humanitarian spirit and commitment to social service. His birthday celebration has become an inspiring example of how personal milestones can be transformed into acts of kindness that benefit society.
