Education Department Unveils New Evaluation System with Four Mandatory Examinations Annually for Students from Classes III to VIII Across Schools

Bhubaneswar,  July 7 {UDN}:  The school examination system has been revised. Students from Class III to Class VIII will now appear for four examinations every academic year as part of a continuous assessment approach.

For children from Shishu Vatika (pre-primary) to Class II, there will be no written examinations. Instead, their progress will be evaluated through activity-based learning, classroom participation, and continuous observation, with a focus on reducing academic pressure and promoting holistic development.

The revised assessment pattern aims to strengthen learning outcomes, encourage regular academic engagement, and create a more child-friendly education system. It also aligns with modern educational reforms that emphasize conceptual understanding and continuous evaluation over one-time examinations.
