Bhubaneswar, May 26: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for fishermen along and off the North Odisha coast, advising them not to venture into the sea on May 28 and 29 due to expected rough weather conditions.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, squally weather is likely to prevail over the region during this period, with wind speeds expected to reach 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph. Sea conditions are also expected to remain rough to very rough.
In view of the adverse weather forecast, fishermen and boat operators have been strongly advised to remain ashore and avoid marine activities during the two-day period.
The IMD has urged coastal communities to stay alert and take necessary safety precautions to prevent any untoward incidents at sea.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further advisories may be issued depending on weather developments.
