Kota, May 26: The Kota Division of the West Central Railway has introduced a token-based system at all stations under its jurisdiction to improve transparency, reduce congestion, and make Tatkal ticket booking more orderly for passengers.
Under the new arrangement, passengers seeking Tatkal tickets will be issued tokens before the start of booking hours to help manage queues at reservation counters and ensure a smoother booking experience.
According to railway officials, tokens for Air-Conditioned (AC) class bookings will be distributed between 9:00 AM and 9:25 AM, while for Sleeper class, tokens will be issued from 9:30 AM to 9:55 AM. Passengers have been advised to reach counters on time and cooperate with staff for effective implementation of the system.
As per Indian Railways guidelines, Tatkal booking for AC classes opens at 10:00 AM, followed by non-AC (Sleeper) bookings at 11:00 AM, one day prior to the scheduled journey date.
In addition to physical reservation counters, passengers can also book Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website and mobile application, using Aadhaar-authenticated accounts for online transactions.
Officials said the initiative is expected to reduce last-minute rush, improve queue discipline, and enhance overall passenger convenience at stations.
