Nabarangpur, Sept 10 [UDN}: A review meeting was held in Nabarangpur district regarding preparations for paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27. The meeting focused on ensuring a smooth, transparent and farmer-friendly procurement process across the district.
Key issues discussed included farmer registration, paddy procurement, identification of new paddy procurement centres, infrastructure development of Regulated Market Committees (RMCs), and strengthening LAMPS (Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies).
Officials reviewed the preparedness of procurement agencies and cooperative institutions to ensure that farmers do not face difficulties while registering their names or selling their harvested paddy. Special attention was given to improving infrastructure and facilities at procurement centres so that farmers can bring their produce, complete necessary formalities and receive timely services.
The meeting also assessed the existing infrastructure of RMCs and LAMPS, along with the need for additional facilities and new procurement points in areas where they may be required. The objective is to make the procurement network more accessible to farmers across Nabarangpur district.
Officials were directed to complete all necessary preparations well in advance and maintain coordination among the Agriculture Department, cooperative institutions, RMCs, LAMPS and other agencies involved in the procurement process.
