Bhubaneswar: The flood situation in Odisha remained grim on Saturday, with more than 2.7 lakh people affected across six districts amid continuing rainfall. As many as 95,206 people have been evacuated to safer locations and accommodated in relief shelters.
Authorities have intensified rescue and relief operations, deploying 118 response teams, including ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services and police personnel. Relief centres are providing cooked food, drinking water, medical care and other essential services.
While water levels in several major rivers have started receding, vulnerable areas remain under close watch. The IMD has also forecast another spell of heavy rainfall over parts of the state, prompting authorities to maintain heightened preparedness.
