Bhubaneswar, July 29 UDN}: A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari to assess and address the flood situation caused by incessant rainfall across the state. Balasore district recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, while several areas in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts have also been affected due to heavy rain.
People living in low-lying areas are being evacuated and shifted to safer locations.
NDRF and ODRAF teams have been deployed in Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.
Cooked food and other essential facilities are being provided to the general public at relief shelters.
The Police Department has been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure the safety and security of the houses and properties of people who have been evacuated to flood shelters.
The Health Department, Animal Resources Development Department and all other concerned departments have been kept on alert and fully prepared. Arrangements have also been made for the safety of livestock, with adequate quantities of cattle feed stocked for them.
In view of the risk of snakebites, sufficient medicines and anti-snake venom injections have been stocked in the affected areas.
The State Emergency Operation Centre is monitoring the situation round the clock and maintaining regular communication with the district emergency control rooms.
Three senior IAS officers have been assigned responsibilities to ensure smooth and effective management of the situation.
