Bhubaneswar: Sept 10 [UDN}:In a significant administrative development, the Odisha Government has appointed nine IAS officers belonging to the 2024 batch as Sub-Collectors (Sub-Divisional Magistrates) in different parts of the state. The appointments are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the district-level administrative machinery and ensure more effective implementation of various developmental and welfare programmes.

The newly appointed officers, who are members of the 2024 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) batch, will now take up important responsibilities at the sub-divisional level. As Sub-Collectors, they will play a crucial role in coordinating government programmes, monitoring developmental activities, addressing public grievances, maintaining administrative coordination and overseeing revenue-related matters within their respective jurisdictions.

The appointments are also expected to provide the young IAS officers with valuable field-level administrative experience. Working directly with district administrations and the public will enable them to gain practical exposure to governance, law and order coordination, disaster management, revenue administration and implementation of government schemes.

The move comes as part of the state government's broader administrative exercise aimed at improving governance and strengthening the delivery of public services at the grassroots level. The newly appointed Sub-Collectors are expected to assume charge soon and work closely with district collectors, other government departments and local authorities to ensure efficient administration.

The appointment of the nine 2024-batch IAS officers as Sub-Collectors marks an important step in giving young civil servants greater field responsibilities and an opportunity to contribute directly to the development and administration of Odisha.
