Bhubaneswar, July 29 (UDN): The Odisha Government is continuously reviewing the flood situation triggered by incessant rainfall and has intensified rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures in the affected districts.

A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari to assess the evolving flood scenario and the preparedness of various departments. During the meeting, the Minister directed officials to further expedite evacuation, rescue and relief operations in vulnerable and flood-affected areas to ensure the safety of people.
To strengthen field-level coordination, senior IAS officers have been specially deputed to Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts. Disaster response agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), Fire and Emergency Services, Odisha Police and the respective district administrations, are working in close coordination to manage the situation effectively.
The 24×7 Control Room of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) is continuously monitoring the flood situation across the State. The government has ensured the availability of relief shelters, healthcare services, safe drinking water, protection of livestock and other essential services in the affected areas.
The Minister stated that the State administration is fully prepared to deal with any flood-related emergency and appealed to people not to panic. He urged residents to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and cooperate with the local administration wherever evacuation or other precautionary measures are required.
The Minister also directed officials to ensure expeditious assessment and disbursement of compensation to people whose houses or agricultural lands have been damaged due to the floods, so that affected families receive timely assistance.
The review meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), Director General of Fire Services, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department, and other senior officials, who reviewed the preparedness and response measures being undertaken across the State.
The Odisha Government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to mitigate the impact of the flood situation while ensuring timely relief and rehabilitation for affected communities.
