Bhubaneswar, July 29 UDN}: In a new initiative aimed at promoting patriotism, national pride, and positive values among inmates, prisoners in jails across Odisha will reportedly be given an opportunity to watch patriotic films starting from Independence Day. The initiative is expected to encourage inmates to reflect on the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the contributions of the armed forces and other national heroes.
As part of the programme, selected patriotic and inspirational movies highlighting the country's freedom struggle, national unity, courage, sacrifice, and love for the nation may be screened for prisoners inside correctional facilities. The move is being viewed as an effort to use films and meaningful storytelling as a tool for moral education, emotional transformation, and rehabilitation.
The initiative is expected to be introduced from August 15, coinciding with the celebration of India's Independence Day. By providing inmates with access to such inspirational content, the authorities hope to create a more positive environment inside prisons and encourage prisoners to develop a sense of responsibility, discipline, and social commitment.
