Bhubaneswar, May 26: The Odisha government on Tuesday held a state-level review meeting to assess preparedness for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, scheduled to begin across the state on May 30.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Electoral Officer R. S. Gopalan and attended by nodal officers, Deputy Collectors (Elections), and District Information and Public Relations Officers from all districts.

During the review, officials were directed to ensure that the voter list revision process is carried out in a smooth, transparent, and accurate manner. Emphasis was placed on simplifying procedures related to new voter enrolment, correction of entries, and migration updates to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the revised rolls.

The Chief Electoral Officer also instructed district administrations to make the door-to-door verification process systematic and citizen-friendly while ensuring that field-level activities remain free from misinformation and confusion.

To strengthen public awareness, the administration plans to intensify voter outreach initiatives and provide enumeration forms in Odia to improve accessibility for people across rural and urban areas.

Officials were further directed to closely monitor social media platforms and promptly counter misleading or false information related to the voter list revision exercise.

The toll-free Election Helpline 1950 will also be widely publicised to assist citizens with information regarding the revision process and facilitate communication with Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

The meeting additionally reviewed coordination mechanisms between district administrations and the Election Department to ensure timely completion of the revision exercise and faster processing of online applications.
