Odisha Rain-Flood Situation Worsens: Educational Institutions and Anganwadi Centres in Bhadrak and Balasore Shut as Precautionary Measure

NewsRabindra Sahoo29 Jul 2026

Bhubaneswar,  July 29 UDN}:  In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall and the deteriorating flood situation, a major decision has been taken to ensure the safety and security of children and students in the affected areas. All schools and Anganwadi centres in the districts of Bhadrak and Balasore will remain closed as a precautionary measure.

The decision has been taken considering the continuous rainfall, rising water levels in several rivers and water bodies, and the possibility of further flooding in low-lying and vulnerable areas. The closure of educational institutions and Anganwadi centres is aimed at preventing children from facing difficulties while travelling and protecting them from possible risks arising due to waterlogging, flooded roads, strong currents, and other rain-related hazards.

The district administrations are closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to deal with the impact of the heavy rain and flood conditions. Parents and guardians have been advised to remain cautious and ensure that children stay in safe places until the weather and flood situation improves.

The authorities have also urged residents in vulnerable areas to follow official advisories and cooperate with the administration during this period. Emergency services and disaster-management teams are being kept alert to respond to any situation that may arise due to the continuing rainfall and rising water levels.

The closure of schools and Anganwadi centres in Bhadrak and Balasore is therefore being viewed as a precautionary step to safeguard the lives and well-being of students, children, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and other staff amid the prevailing rain and flood conditions.
