Bhubaneswar, Aug 6 (UDN): Odisha has renewed its commitment to becoming a major hub for renewable energy and electrical equipment manufacturing, with the state setting a target of adding nearly 11 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The announcement was made at the 5th edition of E3: Energise. Empower. East, where Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister K.V. Singh Deo highlighted the state’s clean energy vision and invited global manufacturers to invest in Odisha’s growing renewable energy ecosystem.
Addressing the conclave alongside Industries Minister of State Sampad Swain, Singh Deo urged companies to “Manufacture in Odisha, Innovate in Odisha and Grow with Odisha”, underlining the state’s focus on attracting investments in renewable energy, power infrastructure and electrical equipment manufacturing.
The event brought together senior government officials, industry leaders and stakeholders from the energy sector, including Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Dev, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma, OPTCL CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, CEA Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad and representatives from the electrical equipment industry.
The conclave highlighted Odisha’s growing potential as a destination for clean energy investments, supported by its natural resources, industrial base, infrastructure and policy initiatives.
The state’s renewable energy expansion plans are expected to create new opportunities in areas such as solar power, green energy technologies, energy equipment manufacturing and associated industries. The push is also expected to generate employment, strengthen local supply chains and contribute to India’s broader clean energy transition.
With increasing global focus on sustainable energy and decarbonisation, Odisha aims to position itself as a leading centre for renewable energy development and manufacturing in eastern India.
The government said continued collaboration between industry and policymakers will be crucial in accelerating clean energy growth and building a sustainable energy ecosystem in the state.
