Odisha Revises Bus Fares Following Diesel Price Increase

NewsBhumika Lenka02 Jun 2026

Bhubaneswar, June 2: The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) has announced a revision in passenger bus fares across the state following a sharp rise in diesel prices, with the new rates taking effect immediately.

According to the revised fare structure, passengers travelling on ordinary, express, deluxe, AC deluxe, and super deluxe buses will see a marginal increase in ticket prices. The revision applies to all stage carriage buses operating within Odisha, except town bus services.

Officials said the decision was taken after diesel prices increased significantly, raising operational costs for bus operators. The latest adjustment aims to help transport services manage the impact of higher fuel expenses while ensuring uninterrupted passenger services across the state.

Under the revised rates, ordinary bus fares have been increased to 92 paise per kilometre, while express services will charge 96 paise per kilometre. Deluxe, AC deluxe, and super deluxe services have also witnessed corresponding fare revisions.

Transport authorities noted that the fare adjustment was calculated based on the recent increase in diesel prices and is intended to balance operational sustainability with commuter convenience.

While fares have been revised, all other provisions and conditions under existing transport department guidelines will remain unchanged.

The move is expected to provide relief to bus operators facing mounting fuel costs, while ensuring the continued availability of public transport services for passengers across Odisha.
