Bhubaneswar, May 27: The Odisha government has approved the recruitment of 7,664 posts across police and uniformed services, in a major move aimed at strengthening the state’s law enforcement system. The recruitment process will be conducted by the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission).

As per the Home Department’s official communication, the vacancies include Civil Constable, OISF Constable, Constable (Communication), and Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent ranks.

Out of the total posts, 4,219 are for Civil Constable, 2,212 for OISF Constable, 933 for Sub-Inspector and equivalent positions, and 300 for Constable (Communication).

Officials said the decision to entrust the recruitment process to OUSSSC, including SI-level posts earlier handled by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board, is aimed at ensuring a faster and more streamlined selection process.

Candidates who had already applied and were found eligible will be allowed to appear in the upcoming recruitment process. The Odisha Police Recruitment Board has been directed to transfer all relevant application data to OUSSSC to facilitate smooth conduct of examinations.

Authorities said the initiative is expected to address manpower gaps and improve operational efficiency within the state police force.
