May 22: The Orissa High Court will enter its summer vacation from May 25, 2026, with the last working day falling on May 23, as May 24 and 25 are non-working days. The court is scheduled to reopen on June 22, 2026.
During the vacation period, the court has put in place a structured system to ensure that urgent matters continue to be heard without delay. Special vacation benches will function on selected dates in virtual mode, operating between 11 am and 3 pm.
As part of the arrangement, multiple Division Benches and single-judge benches have been notified to hear urgent cases on specific dates throughout the recess. These include sittings spread across late May and June, covering a range of judges to ensure continuity in judicial work.
Key hearings are scheduled on May 26 and 29, followed by additional sittings on June 2, 5, 9, 12, 17, and 19. On these days, different combinations of judges will preside over Division Benches, while single-judge benches will also handle matters simultaneously.
The High Court has adopted this system to ensure that critical and time-sensitive cases are addressed efficiently even during the vacation period, minimizing delays in judicial proceedings and maintaining access to justice for litigants.
