Pangolin Rescued Near Malkangiri Village, To Be Released After Recovery

Malkangiri, Oct. 1 (UDN): Forest officials rescued an Indian pangolin from near MV-53 village in Malkangiri district on Wednesday following information from local residents.

The animal was found in an area behind the Rabi Ray premises, under the Puspalli Beat of the Somnathpur Forest Section.

Acting on the information, a forest team reached the spot and safely rescued the pangolin, according to an official communique.

The rescued animal has been placed under medical observation and care. Forest officials said it will be released back into its natural habitat once it is declared fit and healthy, following the prescribed procedure.

The rescue highlights the role of local communities in alerting forest authorities about wildlife found in human-populated areas and facilitating timely intervention.
