Rayagada: July 27 UDN}:To review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Rayagada district, Electoral Roll Observer and IDCO Managing Director Dr. Prashant Kumar Reddy, along with Senior Observer and Deputy Secretary of the State Home (Election) Department Uma Shankar Mahapatra, visited Rayagada on Wednesday.
During their visit, the two observers held discussions with representatives of various political parties and reviewed the progress of the SIR process being undertaken across the district. The review meeting was attended by District Collector Ashutosh Kulkarni, Additional District Magistrate (General) Naveen Chandra Nayak, Rayagada Sub-Collector Ramesh Kumar Jena, Gunupur Sub-Collector Dudhhal Abhishek Dilip, Deputy Collector (Election), Assistant Collector (Election), District Information and Public Relations Officer, and other officials.
In the subsequent phase of the visit, the observers inspected the Rayagada Block Office and several hearing centres in the municipal area. At the Rayagada Block Office, the BDO and Tahsildar, who are functioning as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, were conducting hearings on various claims and objections. The observers monitored the hearing process covering the relevant part numbers.
They also visited the Tumbiguda polling station under the Rayagada municipal area and reviewed the notice and hearing process for Part Numbers 226, 227, 228, 235 and 236 being conducted by the AERO and Executive Officer of the municipality, Kuldeep Kumar.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the observers directed the concerned officials to take all necessary steps to prepare a error-free, transparent and accurate electoral roll. They also instructed officials to ensure that the hearing process related to claims and objections is conducted in a transparent manner and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
