Bhubaneswar,  July 8 {UDN}: Under the Chief Minister Kamadhenu Scheme, the government is providing financial assistance to promote buffalo farming as a sustainable livelihood. Beneficiaries receive a 60% to 70% subsidy for purchasing and rearing two Murrah breed buffaloes. Those procuring buffaloes from outside the state are also eligible for insurance, paying only 15% of the insurance premium, while the remaining amount is borne by the government.

The scheme aims to boost milk production and strengthen the dairy sector across the state. It also encourages rural entrepreneurship by creating self-employment opportunities for farmers and livestock rearers. By reducing the financial burden on beneficiaries, the government seeks to improve household incomes and enhance the overall livestock economy.
