Bhubaneswar,Aug 26 [UDN}:: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has emphasized the need for collective efforts by all sections of society to build the future of Odisha. He said that the state must be built through the combined efforts of the government, citizens, industries, academicians, civil society and the media—an Odisha where every young person can dream with confidence, women can lead with dignity, children can receive education along with opportunities, and development can reach the last person in the society.
The Governor made these remarks while attending the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Odisha ‘Abhyudaya Conclave 2026’, organized by Odia daily newspaper Sambad and Nandighosha TV, as the Chief Guest on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the two-day conclave was both timely and relevant as Odisha moves towards the vision of Developed Odisha@2036. He observed that Odisha stands at the threshold of a new era and stressed the need to move from mineral resources towards value addition, manufacturing, innovation, technology, entrepreneurship and quality employment. The state’s mineral wealth, he said, should serve as a catalyst for human development and prosperity.
The Governor praised the state government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, for advancing Odisha’s development in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India.
Identifying education as a key priority for development, the Governor called for the establishment of Centres of Excellence focused on knowledge, research, innovation and leadership. He said that the younger generation should be prepared not only to seek employment but also to become job creators.
Emphasizing women-led development, he called for expanding opportunities for women in education, technology, finance, property ownership, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Highlighting Odisha’s achievements in disaster management, the Governor called for a shift from merely responding to disasters towards comprehensive disaster management through science and technology, early-warning systems, resilient infrastructure and community participation.
Appreciating Odisha’s growing prominence in sports, he stressed the need to create quality sports infrastructure in every district and provide greater opportunities for children and young athletes to develop their talents.
The Governor said that a Developed Odisha should not be measured merely by economic growth and infrastructure, but also by the quality of education, dignity of women, resilience of communities, health of citizens and confidence of the younger generation.
He also urged the media to create greater public awareness, highlight shortcomings and showcase the stories of young entrepreneurs, farmers, women entrepreneurs, athletes and scientists. Such stories, he said, do more than simply provide information—they inspire people, encourage them and build the confidence needed to bring about positive change.
On the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of Nandighosha TV and Sambad, Manas Mangaraj, and Sambad Printer and Publisher Amit Mallik also addressed the gathering. Earlier, Nandighosha TV COO Jabar Singh Panwar delivered the welcome address, while Nandighosha TV and The Sambad Editor-in-Chief Samarendu Das proposed the vote of thanks.
