Rourkela, July 27 (UDN): Researchers from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela have developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered autonomous system for monitoring and cleaning solar plants.
The technology has been developed by faculty members and researchers from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Rourkela, and has received an Indian patent titled “Federated Learning based Autonomous System and Method for Monitoring and Cleaning Solar Plant.”
The AI-based system uses federated learning and edge computing to detect faults, monitor solar panels, and recommend need-based cleaning while reducing water usage and human effort.
The innovation aims to improve solar power generation efficiency by addressing energy losses caused by dust and debris on solar panels. The research team plans to further develop a hardware prototype and conduct field trials in collaboration with industry partners.
