Bhubaneswar, May 28: The Higher Education Department of Odisha has launched the Phase-1 online admission process for undergraduate (UG) courses through the Students Academic Management System (SAMS), opening applications for 2.76 lakh degree seats across the state.
The Common Application Form (CAF) submission process began on Wednesday via the official SAMS portal and will continue until June 10. Admissions will be conducted in three phases based on merit lists issued at different stages.
As part of the admission schedule, the first merit list will be released on June 17, followed by admissions from June 18 to 20. The second merit list will be published on June 29, with admissions scheduled between June 30 and July 4. A third round, including spot and waiting-list admissions, will be held on July 17 after the commencement of classes.
Officials said the academic session for 2026–27 will begin earlier than usual on July 9, marking a shift from the traditional August start. The move aims to help students complete their degree courses on time and better prepare for competitive examinations.
The admission process covers 1,050 higher education institutions across Odisha. However, admissions in nine self-financing and unaided colleges have been restricted following the withdrawal of recognition for those institutions.
The department said the phased and streamlined admission system is designed to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely completion of the academic cycle.
