Bhubaneswar, June 2: Students of Betnoti Degree College, Mayurbhanj, have secured the first position in a short film competition on drug de-addiction, organised by Lok Bhavan for higher educational institutions across Odisha.
The winning team was felicitated by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati during the Vice-Chancellors’ Conference held at Lok Bhavan on May 31.
The award-winning short film delivers a strong social message on the harmful effects of substance abuse, aiming to raise awareness among youth and promote a drug-free society. The film was appreciated for its emotional storytelling and impactful communication of social responsibility.
The Governor lauded the students for their creative effort and encouraged wider dissemination of the film. He urged the media to give it greater visibility, stating that such content can play a key role in educating the public about the dangers of drug addiction.
He also emphasised that effective use of media platforms can help amplify awareness campaigns and inspire more youth-driven initiatives on social issues.
The recognition highlights the role of students and educational institutions in addressing critical social challenges through creative expression and awareness-building initiatives.
